Sixth Page

“Later that evening Elaine walked into the kitchen with Jasmine. Mrs. Berpeck was preparing dinner.
            “What does relief society mean?”
“Oh hello Elaine, Relief society is a class that all the women eighteen and above go to after sacrament meeting.
            “What’s Sacrament meeting?”
“That’s a meeting at the beginning of church where everyone gathers to hear people speak and they pass the Sacrament.”
            “What’s the Sacrament?”
“Wow young lady there is a lot you don’t know about but how about you ask your questions over the dinner table. That will give us something to talk about.”
“Okay.” Elaine said with a sigh. “When will dinner be done?”
“All these questions.” Marcia said with a smile. “Just in a few minutes, I’ll call you and Jasmine when it’s ready and you can help set the table.”
            “Okay, sounds wonderful!”
“Come on Elaine let’s play with my horses. We can pretend we’re princesess that are riding horses.”
            “Alright that sounds magnificent!”
            “Girls time for dinner!”
“Coming mom!” The three girls said at the same time.
“Just as Elaine ran down the stairs with Jasmine Bill walked in. He was holding a bundle of presents.
“I have some last minute presents to put under the tree.” He said with a grin.
“How did you wrap them so quickly?” Jasmine asked in wonder.
“I had the store wrap them for me.”
“What’s in the other bag?” Elaine asked.
            “Magical things.”
“Will we ever get to see them?”
“Tomorrow you will, I promise! Let me just go put this in a special spot and I’ll join you in a minute. Okay?”
“Okay.” Everyone said as he placed some presents under the tree and put the bag in the master bedroom.
Mrs. Berpeck made a wonderful meal that contained homemade chicken noodle soup and breadsticks.
After the thank you and your welcomes were spoken everyone pitched in to clean up dinner. Then everyone gathered in the living room for scripture study and prayer. While they were eating at the dinner table Elaine had learned all about church and what the scriptures were and of course who Jesus, Heavenly Father, and the Holy Ghost were. They all agreed that they should start at the beginning of the Book of Mormon so that Elaine could read along with them. As they took turns reading Elaine was fascinated. She listened with all her heart and souls content and made them read on and on. Although at one point everyone agreed that if they wanted to do the Christmas Eve rituals then they would have to stop. They all got comfortable on the couches as a stack of beautifully wrapped presents was pulled out from behind the cedar chest. They all grabbed the one with their name on it and sat back in their spots.
“Alright we’ll open them in order form youngest to oldest, alright?” Mrs. Berpeck said with a smile. “Between Jasmine and Elaine we need to figure out who’s the youngest. So Elaine your birthday is May twenty sixth and Jasmine yours is September ninth. So Jasmine you go first.”
Jasmine ripped oped the wrapping paper to reveal a rectangular box with a snowman on it. She opened the box with no care in the world and pulled out the bright purple footie pajamas with little pink poodles covering it. She giggled with delight as she hugged her mom and dad.
“Can I put them on now?”
“Wait till everyone is done opening theirs.”
“Okay, it’s your turn Elaine.” Jasmine said as she curled up on the couch next to Elaine.
Elaine ripped the wrapping paper open a little less crazy as Jasmine had done hers. She looked at the funny reindeer on her box as she giggled and slid the lid off. Her pajamas were the same as jasmines but they were pink. Elaine loved the color pink. A huge grin spread across her face as she jumped up and down. She hugged Marcia and Bill tightly.
“Thank you so much! I love them!”
“I’m glad! I wasn’t sure if you wanted blue or pink but I picked pink.”
            “Pink is my favorite color!”

Just by the way.

I'm only letting you read to a certain point in the book until i'll leave you hanging but continue reading until then.

Fifth page!

Elaine and Jasmine skipped off to the spare room and started unpacking Elaine’s things. Of course everybody else helped too.
They finally finished setting up Elaine’s belongings when the doorbell rang.
“I’ll get it.” Mrs. Berpeck yelled as she walked to the door.
“Hello. I heard you have a new addition to the family. Is that true?” A sweet woman asked.
“Hello, why yes this is Elaine.” Mrs. Berpeck said as the family walked up to see who was at the door. “Elaine, this is Miss. Tuffman. She’s a very sweet woman you lives down the block.”
“Hello, nice to meet you.” Elaine said with a smile.
“Nice to meet you too! Wow! Such an intelligent young lady!” Miss. Tuffman said with a smile.
            “Come on in Miss. Tuffman.”
“Thank you! Don’t mind if I do!” Miss. Berpeck had light brown hair that hung a little bit above her shoulder. Her eyes were sapphire blue with a little twinkle. Her lips were a deep red with a shine to them when she smiled. Her teeth were almost as white as snow. She wasn’t too large and not too thin. But, most of all she was kind. She was a sweet woman who seemed to be in her late thirties. Elaine loved her already.
“Some women from relief society were wondering if they could bring a meal over for you tomorrow.”
“Well that sounds wonderful but, tomorrow we’re celebrating Christmas since Bill was gone helping Elaine. So I’m actually cooking tomorrow. Perhaps another day?”
“Another day is perfect! Oh and by the way,” She said as she opened the door. “Merry Christmas!” She gave the family one more of those smiles and shut the door behind her.

Fourth Page! :)

Elaine stepped outside as a black truck with a horse trailer pulled up.
“Hello Elaine. Ready to go?” Sergeant Berpeck asked
“Yes I’m ready.” The men loaded Elaine’s belongings into the back of the truck and then put the cows in the horse trailer. Sergeant Berpeck lifted Elaine to the seat and buckled her in.
“Alright all set lets go.” Sergeant Berpeck said with a smile as he shut the door.
As Bill got in the driver’s seat Elaine started asking a lot of questions.
“How many people are in your family? What does your house look like? How old are you? Do you like me? Do you like your job?” And so on.
“Four. It’s a pretty log cabin on the other side of town. I’m forty nine. Yes, I think you’re very sweet. Yes I like to help people. Why are you asking all of these questions?”
“Just curious.” Was all she said as she looked out the window.
“Alright, now it’s my turn. What’s your favorite thing to do?”
“Probably color and have tea parties or picnics.”
“Do you have your own tea set?”
“No but I’ve always wanted one. I thought I was going to get one today but then everything was ruined.”
“Well, since I had to work this morning I thought we could have a Christmas tomorrow and you can do it with us.”
“That sounds wonderful!” Elaine said as a huge grin wiped over her face.
“Great it’s settled then! Oh here we are.” Bill said as he pulled into the driveway of a huge log cabin that looked so cozy that Elaine had to hold her breath.
“It’s beautiful!” Elaine said as he pulled around to the back.
“I’m going to put the cows in the barn just wait here for a second.”
“Okay.” Elaine said as she pondered the house and it’s beauty.
Bill helped Elaine take in all of her belongings and then introduced her to the family.
            “This is Barbra.”
“Hi it’s so nice to meet you sweetie.” Barbara said as she bent over to hug Elaine.
“Hello.” Elaine said as she returned the embrace.
“This is Sara she’s nine, and this is Jasmine she’s your age.”
“Hi you look like lots of fun. Sara said as she also hugged Elaine.
“Hello nice to meet you.” Elaine said hugging Sara.
The seven year old ran up to Elaine looked her up and down and then hugged her tightly. “We’re going to be great friends.” Jasmine said.
Elaine hugged her tightly as she smiled. “That sounds wonderful!”

Third Page!

When morning came Elaine realized she was lying with her parents on the yellow grass. The world seemed black and cold. Elaine was alone except for two cows wrapped around her. It was Speckles and her mother, Misty. Elaine remembered what had happened last night and began to cry again. The fire in the barn had devoured the barn and the cows in flame. In that spot lay nothing but black grass and ash.
As Elaine rose to her feet she looked at the horrible scene around her and wished that it had been a dream. Snow started to fall and melted on Elaine’s face like a tear. Elaine stood there for about an hour, stunned into darkness. As she sat back down near speckles there was a thick white blanket of snow surrounding them. Even though the world was white it seemed so black.
Speckles stood up and shook the snow off of his spotty back, and then his mother did the same. Speckles nudged Elaine as if to explain she needed to do something about this. Elaine stood up and went inside. She picked up the old red wall phone and dialed nine one one.

“Nine one one what’s your emergency?” A kind voice called from the other end.
“Last night my mommy and daddy were shot. I need your help. Please come right now. I’m all alone except for my two cows and I’m afraid.”
“Oh! Sweetheart we’ll come as soon as possible. Now, do you know your address?”
Elaine told them her address and hung up the phone. “They said they would be here shortly speckles.” Elaine said as she stepped out the door.
Speckles mooed and went back to eating the yellow grass.
An ambulance and a couple police cars arrived just a few minutes after Elaine had made the call.
“Hello young lady. So tell me exactly what happened last night. Don’t be afraid to cry but don’t forget to tell me anything.” A kind man said as he stepped out of a police car and took Elaine’s shoulders into his hands. He had a blonde mustache with a hint of gray and had the same color hair with a huge bald spot in the middle.
“Well, I heard my cow mooing and ran outside. I went into the barn and grabbed him and his mom. The . . .
“Wait. You went into the fire?”The police man interrupted.
“Yes! I had to get my cow! Anyway I pulled and pulled but Speckles wouldn’t come out. His mom was already at the other side of me. Then that’s when it happened.” Elaine’s voice cracked. “I heard a gunshot go off and my daddy fell to the ground. Then I finally got Speckles to come and I heard four more gun shots. Then my mom tumbled down the steps. I lay there with them until morning.
“Alright sweetie, I think I have everything I need. Now your mommy and daddy are going to be buried in a few days. Would you like to come with me to the viewing and the funeral?”
“Yes I would be delighted to go with you.”
“You sound awfully cheerful for a girl that went through all that.”
“Mommy taught me good manners. Even when you feel down you should have a positive attitude and be kind. What should I call you?”
“You can call me Sergeant Berpeck.”
“How about Sergeant B. For short?”
“Sounds wonderful! Now Susan is going to help you load up lots of your stuff. Just the stuff you want or need and then you can come stay with me and my family for a while. Does that sound good?”
“Yes. If I forget something will I be able to come get it?”
“Of course! Go help Susan now.”
“Okay. Wait! Just one more thing, I’m not leaving here without my cows.”
“I thought you might say that. That’s perfectly under control. I have a barn we can just keep the cows in there. While you and Susan get your stuff I’m going to go get my horse trailer and my truck and then we can be off.
“Okay I’ll be out in a little while.”
“ Alright see you later.”
Elaine and Susan packed all her belongings and needs while other people gathered Elaine’s Christmas presents. They didn’t let her open any today because there was a surprise waiting for her tomorrow morning.

While Sergeant Berpeck or rather Bill was out he picked up a few presents for Elaine. Since he missed Christmas with his family they were already planning to have a Christmas tomorrow. He went home and explained the whole situation to his wife, and then she explained it to their two little girls. Bill had a daughter named Sara who was nine and another daughter, Jasmine who was seven the same age as Elaine. Barbara wrapped the present while bill hooked up the horse trailer. Then he was off to go pick up the new addition to the family.

Second page

“Good night sweetie! Tomorrow is going to be a great Christmas.”
“It’s going to be the best one ever. Good night dad Good night mom.”
“Good night baby.” Elaine’s mom said as she shut the door.
Elaine woke to Speckles mooing loudly in the barn. She slipped off her covers and pulled her boots on from under her bed. As she walked down the hall toward the front door she grabbed her coat out of the closet. She walked out the door to see flames surrounding the barn. She was a little girl with a brave and big heart. She jumped bravely through the flames and ran into the barn. She found speckles at the end as she always was. She grabbed Speckles and her mom and ran out the other end of the barn. As she struggled to pull speckles through the flames her father ran out.
“Elaine!” He yelled as her mother stepped out on the front porch. Elaine’s father ran toward her. As he was running a gun shot off and her father fell to the ground.
“Daddy!” Elaine yelled as tears streamed down her face like a waterfall.
“Fredrick! Elaine! Come here, Come here! Her mom yelled. Tears were streaming down her face as well.
Three or four more gun shots went off. Then her mother fell and rolled down the porch.
“Mama! Don’t leave me! Stay here!” She yelled as she got speckles through the fire and her mom followed close behind. She ran up to her parents who were lying near each other. She wept with Speckles standing above her until day swallowed the night.

It's finally here! :D

I’m Almost There

Chapter One

Little Elaine Taylor was an angel in disguise. Though her life was hard she would never take what she had for granted. Her life wasn’t hard to start out with actually it was quite perfect in Elaine’s big beautiful blue eyes. Before they moved here to Idaho they lived in London, England. They all have an English accent except for Elaine’s father.  She lived on a farm with her father and her mother. She was an only child. The farm was her playground, until people destroyed it.
“Where’s my little angel?”
“Oh papa I’m here, I’m here. Can we milk the cows today? Oh how I love to milk the cows. It’s my favorite chore! I like all of them though.
“Hello my dear.” Elaine’s father said as he set her on his shoulder. “ Of course we can milk the cows. It wouldn’t be the same if you weren’t here to help me.”
“Oh I wouldn’t miss it for the whole wide world daddy.”
“Alright let’s-
“Elaine put on a coat it’s December for crying out loud!”
“Yes mama. I’ll be back in a moment papa.” Elaine said as she wriggled down from her father’s shoulder.
“Alright Elaine I’ll be in the barn.”
When Elaine ran up to her front door she noticed a beautifully wrapped present sitting on her doorstep next to her feet. She tried to find a tag on it but there was none. Oh I’ll just leave it there mama can find it later. She thought to herself.
“Good girl.” Mrs. Taylor said as Elaine ran to the barn dressed in her warm winters coat.
Even though it was winter there wasn’t a single speck of snow on the ground.
“Papa I’m ready! Papa? Are you here?”
Boo!” Mr. Taylor yelled as he jumped out from behind a cow.
He scooped up Elaine as she giggled in the most delightful way a child could ever giggle.
“Can we go check on Speckles?”
“Sure why not.”
Speckle was Elaine’s cow. She was only a few months old. Elaine  loved that cow almost more than anything. If anything happened to speckles, Elaine would just fall apart. When they went in to check on speckles and his mom, speckles walked up to Elaine and lay down at her feet. Elaine giggled in delight as she knelt down next to her.
“I think she’s really warming up to you.”
“ Me too!”
“She’s a great cow.”
“Yes she is. Can we milk her mom right now?”
“How about I milk her mom while you play with Speckles. Does that sound good?”
“Perfect!”

Elaine Ran around the field with speckles until she got tired. When she did Speckles and her lay down in the weeds.
“I’m almost done milking the cows.”
“Coming.”
Elaine ran inside with Speckles. She led Speckles to his mom and then ran off to help her dad with the cows.
